Frequently Asked Questions

Good food is the foundation of a good life.

Our Philosophy

What is Croft Market?

Croft Market is more than a food delivery service - it’s a way of living. We connect Northeast Ohio families with seasonal, thoughtfully sourced, nutrient dense food from local farmers and producers because we believe that how you eat shapes how you feel, how you show up for your family, and how you move through your day. Good food is the foundation of a good life. We’re here to make that foundation accessible, simple, and beautiful.

What does “Local. Seasonal. Thoughtfully Sourced” really mean?

It means we’re intentional about everything. Local means your food dollars stay in your community and your food travels miles, not thousands. Seasonal means you’re eating what the land is producing right now - food at its most nutritious and flavorful. Your food tells a story. Thoughtfully sourced means we’ve done the work for you: we personally visit every farm, know every producer, and stand behind every product. It’s not a marketing tagline. It’s a promise about how we live and how we think you deserve to eat.

Why is nutrient dense food worth it?

Not all food is created equal. A tomato picked ripe from a local farm with regenerative practices and delivered to your door within days has significantly more vitamins, antioxidants, and flavor than one picked green, shipped 1,500 miles and sitting on a shelf for two weeks. Nutrient-dense food does more for your body per bite - which means you’re not just eating, you’re actually nourishing yourself. When you invest in quality food, you’re investing in your energy, your health, and your family’s wellbeing. That’s money well spent.

Are all of the products organic?

Not everything we carry is certified organic, and we’re upfront about that. What we can tell you is that our producers grow without synthetic pesticides and use non-GMO seeds. Some hold organic certification, others follow organic practices but haven’t pursued the paperwork. Either way, the commitment to growing clean, honest food is the same. We visit every farm we source from and can tell you exactly how your food was grown.

Why does eating seasonally matter?

When you eat what’s growing right now in Northeast Ohio, you’re eating food at its absolute peak - more vitamins, more antioxidants, more flavor. It also costs less because it doesn’t need to be shipped across the world. Seasonal eating connects you to where you live. The food is part of a bigger story. It’s a rhythm. Asparagus signals spring. Tomatoes mean summer. Squash says fall is here. There’s something grounding about eating in tune with the land around you.

Are your products non-GMO?

Yes. We source only non-GMO products. Our producers choose traditional seeds and raise animals on non-GMO feed. We believe your food should be as close to nature as possible - because that’s where the real nutrition lives.

Do you sell anything besides produce?

Yes! We carry a curated selection of local goods including eggs, honey, dairy, baked goods, meat and more. Every product meets the same standards: clean ingredients, real nutritional value, and responsible production. If it doesn’t make your life better, it doesn’t make it into our market.

Can I customize my order?

Absolutely. Unlike a traditional CSA box where you get whatever is packed, you choose exactly what your family needs. This means zero waste from items you’d never use, and every dollar going toward food your family will actually eat. That’s smarter spending - and smarter eating.

How do I get the most value from my order?

Eat with the seasons - seasonal produce is always the best value because supply is high and it hasn’t traveled far. Plan your meals loosely around what’s available. We have a Seasonal Recipes blog to help inspire ideas! Store your produce properly to maximize freshness (we include tips with every delivery). And don’t underestimate the value of skipping the processed stuff entirely. When your fridge is full of real food, you’re less tempted by the packaged alternatives that cost more and deliver less.

How does buying from Croft Market support my community?

Every dollar you spend with Croft Market goes directly to Northeast Ohio farmers and producers. It stays in your community, supports local families, and sustains the kind of small-scale agriculture that built this region. You’re not funding a corporation - you’re investing in your neighbors. And when you know the people who grow your food, something shifts. You’re not just a consumer. You’re part of a community built on trust, transparency and shared values.

How do your producers care for the land?

The farmers we work with are stewards, not just growers. They use practices like crop rotation, cover cropping, composting and pasture-raising that protect soil health, conserve water, and promote biodiversity. They’re thinking about next season and the season after that. When you buy from producers who care for the land, you’re helping preserve Northeast Ohio’s farmland for future generations. That’s a legacy worth supporting.

Can I learn more about your producers?

Absolutely. Each producer we work with is featured on our site with their story, their practices, and what they grow or make. Transparency isn’t a buzzword for us - it’s how we operate. We think you should know exactly who grew your food, how they grew it, and why they do what they do.

I’m a local producer. How can I work with Croft Market?

We’re always looking to connect with Northeast Ohio farmers and producers who share our values - pesticide-free, non-GMO, and a genuine commitment to the health of the land and the people they feed. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Visit our Partner With Us page to learn more about our standards and how to get started.

How do you keep my order fresh during delivery?

Produce deliveries are packed in sustainable kraft paper bags. Orders that include frzen or refrigerated products are packed with insulated liners and cold packs to maintain safe temperatures. Simple, sustainable packaging - no unnecessary waste.

How should I store my produce when it arrives?

We include storage tips with every delivery. Generally: leafy greens go straight into the fridge, root vegetables do well in a cool dark spot, and items like tomatoes and stone fruit are best on the counter until ripe. Proper storage means longer freshness, less waste, and more value from every order.

What if something arrives damaged or I’m not happy?

Let us know within 24 hours and we’ll make it right - replacement, credit or refund. We stand behind everything we deliver because your trust matters more than any single order.

Who is behind Croft Market?

Croft Market was founded by Jessica, a Northeast Ohio mom of two with a background in biology. She keeps chickens on her property, cooks seasonally, bakes sourdough and has spent years building relationships with local producers. Croft Market grew out of a simple belief: the way you eat is the foundation of the life you build. Jessica created Croft Market to make it easier for families like hers to access clean, nutrient-dense, local food - without sacrificing their entire weekend to get it.

How do you choose which farms to work with?

We visit every single farm and producer personally. We walk the fields, meet the animals, ask the hard questions, and see how the work gets done. We look for producers who grow without synthetic pesticides, use non-GMO practices, care deeply about the health of their land, and take pride in what they’re putting into the world. If we wouldn’t feed it to our own kids, we won’t sell it to yours.

How can I get in touch?

Reach out through the contact form on our website or email us directly at hello@croftmarket.com. We’re a small operation - you’ll always hear back from a real person. We’d love to hear from you!

I don’t live in Cleveland. Can I still order from Croft Market?

Not yet - but maybe soon. We started in Northeast Ohio because this is home. But the Croft Market philosophy - clean food, local sourcing, real transparency and a better way to feed your family - isn’t limited to one city. We believe every community deserves access to this kind of food system.

Are you expanding to other cities?

That’s the vision! We want to bring the Croft Market model to communities across the country - connecting families with local producers in their own regions, using the same standards and values we’ve built here. Every city has incredible farmers and makers. They just need someone to connect them to the families.
